In Ghaziabad, a 35-year-old man was apprehended on Sunday for allegedly causing the death of a 70-year-old woman during a dispute with her son in Madhuban Bapudham. The woman, identified as Ramvati Devi, stepped in to defend her son, Bijendra Kumar, after an argument ensued between him and the suspect, Majid, who resides in the same neighborhood. Reportedly, Majid pushed Ramvati during the altercation, causing her to fall and sustain fatal injuries. ACP Abhishek Srivastava of Kavi Nagar stated that Bijendra, who resides with his brother and mother in LIG flats under the Kanshiram Avas Yojna, confronted Majid, an e-rickshaw driver, who was allegedly intoxicated and loitering outside their residence. Ramvati attempted to diffuse the situation but ended up being pushed by Majid, leading to her demise. Following the incident, Ramvati's body underwent a post-mortem examination, and an FIR has been lodged at Madhuban Bapudham police station, citing charges under sections 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), 352 (assault or use of criminal force), and relevant provisions of the SC/ST Act. The suspect has been presented before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
